Advice on One PointARIA International Patent and Trademark Office
Description
- Example of Execution
- It is an issue of capital importance how many examples of execution you
write on description. Competitors obtain useful information too much if
you write too much. But in case of too few examples, a patent may be invalidated
because invention for which a patent is sought is not stated in detailed
explanation of the invention. You should write the examples within the
minimum extent necessary.
Claims
- The Number of claims
- Less claims lead to lower cost. But if you only claim several examples
of execution, a patent for them is ineffective due to a narrow range of
the patent. So a superordinate concept of the examples should be claimed.
However, superordinate concepts are difficult to be patented. So you should
claim a combination of the superordinate concept, some intermediate concepts
and the examples.
